Excerpts from the discussion of punchlines considered for this strip:

SETH and HERBERT are outside Guy's house. Herbert is standing in a giant flaming pie.
Herbert: Are you sure about this, boss?
Seth: Hey, it worked for The Beatles.
(Alternately, Herbert could be dressed as a giant bat hanging on a string, and Seth could say Batman.)

Seth and Herbert tilting at a windmill? in appropriate dress?
Seth dressed as Ahab and Herbert dressed as white whale, in Guy's front yard

Seth: I AM THE GHOST OF JOHN GRISHAM, COME TO GIVE YOU INSPIRATION, GUY!!
Guy: Seth, John Grisham's not dead.
Seth: Oh. Then I got nothing.

Seth (on roof): Okay, now, ring the doorbell. When he comes out, I'll drop this apple on his head.
Herbert: Boss, I'm telling you, Newton wasn't a novelist.

Herbert's up on the roof with a powerful spotlight and a megaphone.
"Are you sure about this, boss?"
"Worked for St. Paul!"
